…60 victims rescued since March attack on Ngoshe community

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have rescued six abducted women and children, neutralised two Boko Haram terrorists, and arrested a suspected collaborator in a series of coordinated operations across the North East theatre, the military announced yesterday.
The latest rescue brings to 60 the total number of persons freed from terrorist captivity since the attack on Ngoshe community in Borno State on March 3, 2026.
The Joint Task Force (North East), in a statement issued by its Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, said the rescue occurred during a sustained clearance operation along the Mandara Mountains axis.

During the operation, troops intercepted and rescued six residents of Ngoshe community who had been held captive by Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements
The rescued persons were identified as Amina Salihu, 52; Aishatu Musa, 50; twin sisters Hassana and Hussaina Abubakar, both nine years old; Adamu Zakariyya, 12; and Usman Zakariyya, 10.
The rescued victims were received by the Commander of the 26 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General Nasirudeen Abdullahi. They were given medical attention at the Brigade Medical Reception Station before being reunited with their families through the community leader, Mallam Bulama Kunda, and the Chief Imam of Ngoshe, Mallam Auwalu Hudu.
Brigadier General Abdullahi assured residents of Ngoshe community that troops would sustain ongoing rescue operations until all abducted persons are safely reunited with their families. The Chief Imam offered prayers for the success of the troops in their ongoing operations.
In other coordinated operations across the theatre, troops recorded additional successes, including the neutralisation of terrorists during aggressive operations in Konduga Local Government Area.
Troops of Sector 1 conducted a successful operation at Bazamri village in Konduga LGA, resulting in the death of two Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists.
Items recovered from the neutralised insurgents included logistics supplies such as detergent, salt, and a carton of spaghetti, believed to be intended for sustaining terrorist elements still operating in the area.
The military reported no casualties on the side of the troops. Personnel have since repositioned to sustain offensive pressure against the insurgents.
In a separate development, troops deployed at the Mainé checkpoint in Yobe State arrested a suspected Boko Haram collaborator. Acting on credible intelligence, troops intercepted Ibrahim Alhaji Julo, 30, who was moving in a red Golf vehicle with registration number KTG-397AA, issued in Bauchi State.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Julo was allegedly using his vehicle to convey terrorist elements and to facilitate illegal tax collection within communities.
Items recovered from the suspect include a mobile phone and an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect and the exhibits are in military custody for further investigation.
The Joint Task Force assured the public of its unwavering commitment to sustaining aggressive operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, rescuing abducted civilians, denying terrorists freedom of action, and restoring lasting peace, security, and economic stability across the North East region.
The Military High Command commended the troops for their utmost professionalism, resilience, and sustained operational success, urging them to maintain the current momentum.
Since the attack on Ngoshe community on March 3, 2026, a total of 60 women and children have been rescued by troops of Operation Hadin Kai.
The military has continued to maintain an aggressive posture in the area, with Thursday’s operation marking the latest in a series of successful missions aimed at freeing civilians held captive by terrorist groups operating in the Mandara Mountains and surrounding regions.
