In a significant double victory, troops of Operation HADIN KAI have neutralized nine ISWAP terrorists and successfully rescued seventy-four members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in separate operations across Borno State.
The successful operations, which took place on Tuesday, are part of the ongoing “Operation DESERT SANITY IV” and come as a direct response to the Chief of Army Staff’s directive for troops to sustain aggressive pressure on terrorist groups in the North East.

According to a press release signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force, the first engagement occurred on November 12, 2025, when troops of Sector 1, in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), made contact with ISWAP fighters in the Yanaga Ari area of Mafa Local Government Area.
The encounter resulted in the neutralization of nine terrorists. Troops also recovered five AK-47 rifles, several rounds of ammunition, and other critical logistics items from the scene.
In a separate and equally critical operation, the gallant troops of Sector 2 executed a daring rescue mission, saving seventy-four NYSC corps members from imminent abduction along the perilous Buratai–Kamuya Road in Biu LGA.

The corps members, comprising 36 males and 38 females, were on their way to Hawul for a Christian Evangelism Mission when their vehicles broke down near a known kidnapping hotspot at night. Their precarious situation was detected by a military patrol team monitoring a closed-circuit television (CCTV) system, which spotted suspicious movement involving three buses at the location.
A swift deployment was authorized, leading to the successful rescue of all seventy-four individuals. The rescued corps members are currently being accommodated and cared for at the Tukur Yusuf Buratai Institute, pending arrangements for their safe movement to their final destination.
The Military High Command has commended the troops for their “impressive gallantry and proactiveness,” urging them to remain focused and vigilant in the campaign to restore lasting peace to the North East.
The public is once again enjoined to continue supporting the Armed Forces of Nigeria by providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing operations.
