Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE, in collaboration with local vigilante groups, have neutralized 10 terrorists and recovered a significant cache of weapons, motorcycles, and logistics supplies.
The operation, codenamed Operation WUTAN DAJI, took place on the morning of April 9, 2026, across Daba and Seri villages in Wase and Kanam Local Government Areas.
According to a statement released by the Media Information Officer, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the troops established strategic blocking positions between Dutsen Zaki and the Odare Forest around 8:30 am. A large group of terrorists on motorcycles was sighted moving along a known transit route. Security forces immediately engaged the criminals with superior firepower.
Despite initial resistance, the terrorists were overwhelmed. Ten were confirmed neutralized, while others fled in disarray into the surrounding forest, leaving behind a trail of casualties and equipment.
In a related development, troops responded to a report of an isolated attack on commuters along the Razat and Kafi Abu axis. When the perpetrators withdrew into the hinterlands, security forces launched an immediate pursuit. Subsequent cordon-and-search operations in Suma Suga, Takwok villages, and adjacent mountainous areas yielded substantial recoveries.
The items recovered include:
· 3 AK-47 rifles
· 3 AK-47 magazines
· 8 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition
· 2 motorcycles
· 5 jerrycans (25-litre each) of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), intended for terrorist logistics
· A National Identity Card and photograph of suspects, providing valuable leads for ongoing investigations
Captain Oteh stated that the successful engagement marks a significant step in degrading the operational capacity of armed groups in the region. Troops remain on high alert and are actively pursuing fleeing terrorists and their collaborators.
Operation ENDURING PEACE continues to intensify clearance operations across identified flashpoints to guarantee the safety of lives and property of citizens in Plateau State.
