Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation Hadin Kai, have recorded significant operational successes in ongoing counter terrorism operations across the North East, including the neutralisation of terrorists, arrest of suspects, and disruption of logistics networks between March 31 and April 4, 2026.
According to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer at Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, the troops sustained aggressive offensives against Boko Haram and ISWAP elements across multiple locations within the theatre.
In one of the major operations, troops under Sector 2 deployed at Geidam, in collaboration with operatives of the Civilian Joint Task Force, engaged terrorist logistics suppliers based on credible intelligence. The encounter led to the neutralisation of three terrorists, while a logistics vehicle was disabled. Items recovered included food supplies, mobile phones, and other materials intended for insurgent camps.
In another engagement, troops successfully ambushed terrorists attempting to plant Improvised Explosive Devices along the Konduga to Kawuri axis. The troops engaged the insurgents with decisive firepower, resulting in the neutralisation of two terrorists following an explosion triggered during the encounter. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered.
Troops further intensified counter IED operations, discovering and safely detonating an explosive device planted along the Ngoshe to Pulka road, thereby preventing possible civilian casualties and ensuring safe passage along the route.
In Adamawa State, troops operating under Sector 4 conducted joint operations with local hunters in Mubi North Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of three suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP members. Preliminary findings revealed that one of the suspects had been involved in intelligence gathering on troop movements and had participated in a recent attack, which resulted in heavy casualties among insurgents. The suspects are currently in custody for further investigation.
In another operation at Mainok market, troops arrested three suspected terrorist logistics suppliers and recovered livestock, mobile phones, and cash, further weakening the supply chain supporting insurgent activities.
Troops also intercepted a vehicle carrying suspected terrorist elements in Yobe State. Two of the occupants were identified as having sustained gunshot wounds from previous encounters with troops. The suspects, along with recovered communication devices, are currently in custody for further investigation.
Additional operations across the theatre led to the arrest of suspected informants and collaborators attempting to cross into neighbouring areas, as well as the apprehension of a foreign national at a checkpoint under suspicious circumstances.
The military high command stated that troops have continued to maintain aggressive operations within their area of responsibility, effectively denying criminal elements freedom of action. It added that all operations were conducted without incident, with troops’ morale and combat readiness described as high.
The statement also noted that the military high command commended the troops for their resilience, vigilance, and professionalism, urging them to sustain the momentum in the ongoing efforts to restore security and stability in the North East region.
