Troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces have neutralised several bandits and recovered rustled cattle in Magama Local Government Area of Niger State.
Counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama confirmed the development in a post on his X handle though he didn’t reveal the total number of insurgents killed.
According to security sources who spoke to Makama, the bandits had attacked Atabo, Zoma and neighbouring communities where they stole large herds of cattle and attempted to retreat towards Zamfara State.
They were intercepted through coordinated air and ground operations, leading to the death of many of the attackers and the recovery of the stolen animals.
He further revealed some of the surviving bandits reportedly attempted to regroup and launch a counterattack to reclaim the cattle. However, Troops engaged them in another operation, killing several and repelling the assault.
