Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Wutan Daji have killed several terrorists during coordinated offensive operations in Plateau State, with at least 10 bodies recovered in the aftermath of the encounter.
According to an operational report released on Thursday, the successful military action was carried out across Wase and Kanam Local Government Areas, targeting known terrorist corridors around Daba and Seri villages.
The report detailed that the troops, acting on intelligence, strategically established blocking positions between Dutsen Zaki and the Odare Forest, a known movement route for insurgents. This tactical positioning led to direct contact with terrorists who were reportedly moving along the axis on motorcycles.
Upon engagement, a firefight ensued between the troops and the دہشتants, resulting in the neutralization of several insurgents. Others were said to have fled the scene with suspected gunshot wounds, indicating the intensity of the military offensive.
Further exploitation of the area by the troops led to the recovery of 10 bodies believed to be those of the fleeing terrorists who later succumbed to injuries sustained during the clash. In addition to the bodies, a number of combat-related items were also recovered at the scene.
The recovered items, according to the report, include two motorcycles used for mobility, 25-litre jerrycans filled with premium motor spirit, one AK-47 rifle, and a magazine loaded with 7.62mm special ammunition. These items are believed to have been part of the logistics and operational tools used by the insurgents.
The Nigerian Army noted that the operation remains ongoing, with troops maintaining a high level of morale and continuing sustained offensive actions to clear the area of terrorist elements. The military emphasized that the troops are committed to denying the insurgents freedom of movement and disrupting their operational networks.
The Army further reaffirmed its resolve to sustain pressure on terrorist groups across affected regions, particularly in the North-Central zone, with the aim of restoring lasting peace and security to communities that have been impacted by persistent attacks.
Residents in the affected areas have continued to express cautious optimism as military operations intensify, with authorities urging continued cooperation with security agencies by providing credible information that could aid ongoing efforts.
The latest development underscores the Nigerian Army’s ongoing strategy of aggressive clearance operations, intelligence-led engagements, and area domination in its broader campaign against terrorism and armed banditry across the country.
The report was made available to journalists on Thursday.
