Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have recorded fresh operational gains across the North-East, arresting suspected terrorists and their collaborators, rescuing kidnapped civilians, and recovering explosive devices in a series of coordinated operations.
In Ngamdu, Yobe State, troops apprehended two suspected terrorists, Haruna Adamu (32) and Ibrahim Adamu (20), during ongoing military engagements in the area. According to preliminary findings, the suspects reportedly fled from Zamfara State into Yobe. Items recovered from them include a smartphone, a keypad phone, a power bank, an identification card, suspected illicit substances, charms, and other personal effects. They have since been handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation.
Similarly, troops of the 254 Battalion under Sector 2 Command arrested a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP informant, Ali Muhammad (30), at Ngamdu Market. The suspect, said to have been on the military’s watchlist, was found in possession of cash, a keypad phone, identification cards, charms, a knife, and a notebook containing phone numbers linked to suspected terrorist contacts. Military sources described the arrest as a significant disruption to the intelligence network of insurgent elements in the area. He is currently undergoing interrogation at Sector 2 Headquarters.
In another operation, troops conducting a night raid around the Mubi axis of Adamawa State arrested five suspected drug peddlers. The suspects were reportedly found with various items, including ammunition, and are currently in custody pending further investigation.
Meanwhile, troops deployed in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), responded to a distress call following a kidnapping incident. The joint operation led to the successful rescue of two victims, Barnabas Apagu (12) and Ruth Apagu (10). Efforts are ongoing to secure the release of other abducted individuals still in captivity.
In a related development, troops operating in Kukareta, Yobe State, recovered a hand grenade believed to have been abandoned by fleeing terrorists. The explosive device was safely secured in accordance with established military procedures.
The Military High Command commended the troops for their resilience and gallantry, urging them to sustain the momentum of ongoing operations. It also reassured the public of its commitment to intensifying efforts aimed at degrading terrorist activities, protecting lives and property, and restoring lasting peace and stability across the region.
Residents were further encouraged to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations.
