Participants of the Senior Executive Course 48 at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, have commenced a strategic study tour across key government institutions as part of efforts to deepen their understanding of Nigeria’s policy and administrative landscape.
The tour, which began on Monday, March 30 and will run until Wednesday, April 1, 2026, is designed to expose participants to the operations, policy frameworks, and institutional dynamics of agencies critical to national development and governance.
Organisers say the exercise is a core component of the institute’s curriculum, aimed at bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical governance by providing participants with firsthand experience of how major institutions function.
To ensure effective engagement, participants have been divided into study groups, each assigned to specific institutions across different sectors of the economy.
Among the key institutions scheduled for visits are the Ministry of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, the National Information Technology Development Agency, the National Institute for Cultural Orientation, the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, the Bank of Industry, and the National Youth Service Corps.
Other agencies on the itinerary include the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, the National Directorate of Employment, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, the Federal Ministry of Finance, the National Broadcasting Commission, and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.
The tour also extends to institutions within the creative and tourism sectors, reflecting the growing importance of these industries to Nigeria’s economic diversification efforts. Participants are expected to engage with the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, the National Gallery of Arts, the Nigeria Tourism Development Authority, the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, the National Film and Video Censors Board, the Nigerian Copyright Commission, and the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy.
Through these engagements, participants will interact directly with policymakers, administrators, and institutional leaders, gaining insights into policy implementation, operational challenges, and opportunities for reform.
The study tour is expected to enrich participants’ perspectives and equip them with practical knowledge that will inform their strategic policy recommendations at the end of the course, reinforcing the institute’s role in shaping high-level leadership and governance capacity in Nigeria.
