Vows to restore peace, says forces of evil will never prevail

President Bola Tinubu has issued a decisive directive to the Armed Forces and all security agencies to end the scourge of insecurity in Nigeria “without delay,” declaring that his administration remains unshakable in its commitment to restoring peace across the nation.
The President’s strong stance came in his Easter message to Nigerians on Friday, where he expressed deep sadness over recent tragic incidents and loss of lives in some parts of the country. He assured citizens that under his leadership, criminal elements and violent extremists would be decisively dealt with.
“Forces of evil will never prevail over our country,” Tinubu declared. “I have given clear directives to the Armed Forces and all relevant security agencies to end insecurity decisively and without delay. With the unwavering courage and commitment of our gallant men and women in uniform, we are turning the tide and making steady progress in reclaiming peace and stability.”
The President’s statement comes amid heightened security concerns, particularly in the North-West, North-East, and some parts of the South-East, where banditry, terrorism, and separatist violence have continued to disrupt livelihoods. Military operations have intensified in recent weeks, with the Defence Headquarters reporting significant gains against insurgents and kidnappers.
In the same address, President Tinubu acknowledged the economic hardships faced by Nigerians but assured that his administration was making progress in stabilising key sectors.
“We are grateful to all Nigerians for your patience and resilience as our economy begins to show encouraging signs of recovery,” he said. “We understand the economic challenges many of you are facing, and we are working tirelessly to restore investor confidence, stabilise key sectors, and build an inclusive economy that serves the interests of all Nigerians.”
The President’s remarks align with recent economic data indicating a gradual rebound in foreign exchange liquidity and a modest uptick in capital importation following policy reforms.
However, inflation remains stubbornly high, and food prices continue to strain household budgets. Economists say the coming months will be critical in determining whether the administration’s economic strategies yield sustainable relief.
President Tinubu urged citizens to remain hopeful and united. “Just as Christ triumphed over death, so too shall our country triumph over every challenge we face,” he said. “The present moment may be cloudy, but it will usher in a glorious day.”
The President also extended goodwill to Pope Francis, expressing gratitude for the Pontiff’s recovery from illness and praying for his continued strength.
Tinubu emphasised that Nigeria’s greatest strength lies in its unity, urging citizens to remain resolute in the pursuit of national progress.
“The task before us is enormous, but together, with faith and determination, there is no obstacle we cannot overcome,” he stated. “Our unity and resilience are our greatest strengths.”
