President Bola Tinubu on Friday congratulated Nigerian Afropop legend Innocent “2Baba” Idibia on his 50th birthday, praising his two-decade career as a symbol of resilience, creativity and national pride.
The President conveyed his congratulations through a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
“For more than 20 years, 2Baba serenaded us with soulful melodies, inspired generations, and carried the Nigerian flag with pride worldwide,” Tinubu said. He added that Idibia’s legendary song, African Queen, “remains an evergreen classic that introduced the beauty of African music to the world, placing Nigeria at the heart of the global entertainment map.”
Tinubu commended the singer’s role in promoting peace, unity and good governance in Nigeria, noting that he “deployed his platform to causes beyond music.” The president also wished the artist “greater joy, fulfilment, and good health” in the years ahead. Born in Jos, Plateau State, 2Baba rose to fame in the early 2000s and has won multiple international and local awards.
