The Nigerian military has recorded major gains in the North East.
According to a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer for Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, troops repelled a coordinated terrorist attack, arrested suspected collaborators, and rescued kidnapped victims across the theatre.
A large group of Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists attempted to storm Forward Operating Base Gajibo. They approached on motorcycles. They carried support weapons.
Troops detected the advance early, the statement said. They responded swiftly with heavy firepower. Mortar engagements forced the terrorists to withdraw in disarray.
No military casualties were recorded. Troops later recovered ammunition and combat accessories from the scene.
In Gubio town, troops and Civilian Joint Task Force operatives arrested two suspected Boko Haram collaborators, according to the military. Both suspects are cattle rearers. They remain in custody for further investigation.
In Gwoza, security forces arrested a logistics supplier named Umar Ahmadu. A surrendered terrorist associate provided the intelligence that led to his arrest. Lieutenant Colonel Uba stated that Ahmadu has confessed to supplying items to terrorists on multiple occasions.
A 17-year-old family member of a terrorist surrendered to troops along the Gwoza–Limankara axis, the military reported. He escaped from an enclave in the Mandara Mountains. Sustained military pressure and lack of basic necessities inside the enclave pushed him to surrender.
Troops also intercepted and rescued two male victims near Mafa town, according to the statement. The victims had been kidnapped earlier. They escaped from captivity under poor visibility conditions. They have now been handed over for medical evaluation and necessary care.
The Joint Task Force said these operations target terrorist mobility, logistics networks, and support structures. Troops remain on high vigilance. They continue an aggressive operational posture across the theatre.
Lieutenant Colonel Uba reassured the public of the military’s unwavering commitment to sustaining operations until terrorism is defeated. The goal, he said, is lasting security, peace, and economic stability in the North East region.
