A combined team of police tactical units, military personnel, and vigilantes has been deployed for a massive search and rescue operation following the abduction of twenty five students from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, November 17, 2025, at approximately 4:00 a.m. According to a statement released by the Kebbi State Police Command, a gang of armed bandits carrying sophisticated weapons stormed the school premises in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, shooting sporadically.
Police tactical units already deployed at the school engaged the attackers in a gun duel. However, the assailants managed to scale the school’s fence and abducted twenty-five students from their hostel, taking them to an unknown destination.
Tragically, the attack also resulted in the death of one Hassan Makuku, who was shot, while another individual, Ali Shehu, sustained an injury to his right hand.
Upon receiving the report, a large-scale joint operation was immediately launched. Security forces are currently combing the bandits’ suspected routes and nearby forests with the dual objective of rescuing the abducted students and arresting the perpetrators of what the police described as a “dastardly act.”
The Commissioner of Police for Kebbi State, CP Bello M Sani, reiterated the command’s unwavering determination to safeguard the lives and property of the state’s residents.
He appealed to the public to remain calm and vigilant, urging continued support for police operations to maintain peace and stability in the area.
