President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will travel to Akwa Ibom and Rivers States on Friday for a two-day visit combining project commissioning and partisan politics, the Presidency announced on Thursday.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President will begin the trip in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, where he is expected to commission a series of projects executed by Governor Umo Eno’s administration.
Governor Eno has declared Friday a work-free day in the state to enable residents to give the President a rousing reception.
The projects lined up for commissioning in Uyo include the new International Terminal Building, the International Airport Hospital and the Ibom Aviation Village, all situated at the Victor Attah International Airport. The President will also inaugurate the Airport-Okopedi Road in Nsit Atai and Okobo Local Government Areas, and Ring Road 3, which links Idoro Road to Ikot Ekpene Road through Uyo and Ibiono Ibom.
Other projects on the list are the AKWA-GIS Office Complex, the Command and Control Centre and the ARISE Palm Resort.
President Tinubu will also attend a political rally in Uyo during the visit.
He is billed to proceed to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Saturday for an APC rally — his third since he flagged off the party’s re-election campaign in Kaduna last month.
The Presidency said the visits would afford the President the opportunity to engage with political stakeholders, party members and supporters, while emphasising unity, political stability and a shared commitment to national progress.
The trip comes as the President intensifies his re-election campaign across the country, combining governance duties with political engagements in the South-South region.
