President Bola Tinubu has strongly condemned the recent wave of deadly attacks in Plateau and Kaduna states, describing the killings as barbaric and cowardly while vowing that those responsible will not escape justice.

In a statement issued from the State House, the President expressed outrage over the assault on Angwan Rukuba district in Jos, Plateau State, as well as the attack on Kahir village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where wedding guests were killed and abducted in a brazen display of violence.

President Tinubu characterized these acts as an affront to everything Nigeria stands for and made it clear that his administration would not allow such atrocities to go unpunished.

In his reaction, the President did not mince words in describing the perpetrators. “Anyone who will sneak under the cover of the night and kill defenceless citizens as done in Jos and Kahir village, is a heartless coward,” he said.

He noted that the choice of soft targets in Jos was a deliberate strategy designed not only to inflict harm but also to provoke reprisal attacks and set off a dangerous cycle of communal bloodletting.

He warned that such tactics would fail, as the government remains committed to protecting the lives and property of all Nigerians. The President also directed security agencies to intensify their efforts to track down the perpetrators and to pay close attention to those spreading misinformation that could inflame tensions and endanger more lives.

He took the opportunity to caution certain sections of the media against insinuations that the attacks were religiously motivated, urging them to exercise responsibility in their reportage.

President Tinubu reaffirmed that security agencies are already actively addressing the situation on the ground and stressed that public cooperation remains vital to maintaining peace and safeguarding communities. He called on residents to comply with evacuation, relocation, and other safety advisories issued by security forces and local authorities. The President also expressed relief over the safe return of two of the victims abducted from Kaduna and demanded that all remaining hostages be rescued without delay. “I urge our security agencies to be more proactive in preventing these attacks by acting on early warning intelligence. All the remaining abductees from Kahir village must be rescued immediately,” the President said.

The President commended the governors of the affected states for their leadership during the crisis. He praised Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State for his efforts in containing the situation in Jos and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State for his role in supporting rescue operations and containment measures.

He assured the people and governments of both states of his full support and extended his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. He also prayed for the quick recovery of the injured.

In a further demonstration of his administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity, President Tinubu disclosed that the government is currently acquiring more sophisticated equipment to enhance the capabilities of security agencies, enabling them to track and dismantle criminal networks in real time, wherever they are.

As the nation mourns the victims of these senseless attacks, the President’s message was clear: the federal government stands resolute in its determination to bring the perpetrators to justice and to ensure that such acts of cowardice never go unpunished.

He called on all Nigerians to remain vigilant, cooperate with security forces, and resist any attempts to exploit the situation for divisive purposes.
