President Bola Tinubu has approved new leadership appointments for two key agencies overseeing Nigeria’s electricity management and scientific research.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Monday, the President appointed Engr. Adesayo Olusegun Michael as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA). The agency is responsible for enforcing technical standards and safety in Nigeria’s electricity supply industry.
President Tinubu also approved the constitution of a new Governing Board for NEMSA. The board members include Engr. Aliyu Abdulazeez as Executive Director, Technical; Ikechi Clara Nwosu (Chairman, South East); and representatives from other geopolitical zones: Zubair Abdur’rauf Idris, Igba Elizabeth (North Central), Sani Alhaji Shehu (North East), Adeyemi Adetunji (South West), Engr. Emmanuel Eneji Nkpe (South South), and Engr. Charles Ogbonna Asogwa (South East).
In a separate appointment, the President named Hon. Magaji Da’u Aliyu as the Managing Director of the Sheda Science and Technology Complex (SHESTCO) in Abuja. SHESTCO is a critical national asset mandated with conducting advanced research and development in science and technology, and it operates a nuclear research facility.
In related appointments, the President has nominated Amina Gamawa (Bauchi) and Abdullahi Muktar (Kaduna) as Commissioners to the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC). Their names have been forwarded to the Senate for confirmation, as required by law.
The appointments are seen as part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to place qualified professionals in strategic positions to drive efficiency and technical compliance in the power sector and to accelerate scientific innovation for national development.
The statement urged the new appointees to demonstrate dedication, integrity, and innovation in fulfilling their respective mandates.
