President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has adjusted his official itinerary, postponing a scheduled trip to Ogun State to instead travel to Jos, the Plateau State capital, to commiserate with the government and people over recent deadly gun attacks.
The President was originally scheduled to visit Iperu, Ogun State, on Thursday to flag off operations at the Gateway International Cargo Airport. However, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu will now head to Jos to mourn with citizens affected by the violence, which claimed the lives of several innocent residents.
The change in schedule marks the beginning of the President’s four-state visit, which will now commence with the condolence visit to Plateau State.
From Jos, President Tinubu is expected to travel to Lagos to observe Good Friday. His itinerary will then see him return to Ogun State on Saturday, April 4, for the commissioning of the Gateway International Cargo Airport, as earlier planned. During that visit, he will also inaugurate two commercial aircraft intended for the export and import of goods, a move aimed at boosting the state’s economic growth. Additionally, the President will commission the new edifice of the Federal Operations Unit of the Nigerian Customs Service, along with its operational vehicles.
Following his engagements in Ogun State, President Tinubu will return to Lagos to continue the Easter holiday. During his stay, he is also expected to commission several infrastructure projects undertaken by the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. These projects include the iconic Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge, the Lagos State Geographic Information System Building, the Multi-Agency Complex named after the President, and a school complex.
Before returning to the Federal Capital Territory, the President will round off his four-state tour on April 10 with a visit to Bayelsa State, where he is scheduled to commission completed projects by Governor Duoye Diri’s administration.
