Residents in several districts of Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, have been notified of planned power interruptions starting this Tuesday, 28th October.
The exercise, which is expected to last for six days, will affect areas including Apo, Lokogoma, Guzape, Asokoro, Wuye, Utako, Jabi, and the Idu Industrial Area.
In an announcement to customers, the electricity distribution company stated the interruptions are a “phased load management exercise.” This has been necessitated by ongoing Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) road construction, which is affecting a major 132kV power line.
The first phase of this plan will run from Tuesday, 28th October, to Sunday, 2nd November 2025. The company has specified that interruptions may occur daily between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
“We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause and assure you that the exercise is necessary to enhance network reliability and support ongoing infrastructure development,” the announcement read.
The company has pledged that its technical teams will be on the ground to ensure power is restored quickly at the end of each day’s work. Customers in the affected areas have been advised to expect updates on subsequent phases of the exercise.
For further information, residents can contact the utility provider via its official WhatsApp lines: 08152141414 and 08152151515, or by calling 08039070070.
