Police operative in Kebbi state has arraigned one Ibrahim Karaye, 30, for allegedly killing his own father, Bahago Karaye, aged 50 years.
PPRO of the state police command, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed this in a statement in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
He said the incident happened on March 30, at about 5:30 p.m., on a farm in Rakka Village, Birnin Yauri, Yauri local government area of the state.
Part of the statement reads, “The suspect and the deceased were reportedly working together when a disagreement arose between them, which escalated into a physical altercation.
“During the confrontation, the deceased allegedly threw a stick at his son. In reaction, the suspect became enraged, picked up a pestle, and struck his father on the head.
“The victim sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Birnin Yauri Primary Health Care Centre, where he received treatment and was later discharged.
“However, on April 1, at about 3:30 p.m., the father died at his residence as a result of the injuries sustained,” he said.
The police spokesman said the suspect was accordingly charged to court for prosecution.
