Prominent lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mike Ozekhome, is scheduled to appear before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja this coming Monday to face criminal charges.
The arraignment, set for January 26, 2026, follows charges brought by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission. Ozekhome will answer to a three-count charge involving allegations of fraud and forgery linked to a high-value property in London, United Kingdom.
According to the charge sheet, the senior lawyer is accused of illegally receiving a London house as a gift in 2021. The ICPC further alleges that Ozekhome fabricated a Nigerian passport to create false documentary evidence of ownership for the overseas asset.
The case originated from a petition by an anti-corruption watchdog and is connected to earlier proceedings in a British court, which reportedly uncovered a scheme involving forged documents and disputed ownership.
The prosecution will be handled by the ICPC’s special unit for high-profile cases. The court has issued standard notices requiring parties to promptly seek any adjournments and to provide adequate notice for witness summonses.
This development places one of Nigeria’s most visible legal figures under the scrutiny of the country’s anti-graft agency, with proceedings set to begin at 9 a.m. in the Maitama division of the FCT High Court.
