The immediate past Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, has extended her heartfelt condolences to the family of Squadron Leader Ahamefule Aham Man-Ugwueje, an Abia-born pilot who was among those killed in the tragic crash of a Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft in Ondo State.
In a condolence message released on Wednesday, Onyejeocha said the crash had left the nation grief-stricken, noting that she received the news with a heavy heart.
Squadron Leader Man-Ugwueje, an indigene of Umuahia in Abia State, was described by Onyejeocha as “a young man of promise, a trained pilot who wore his uniform with pride, and a newly married husband whose future was only just beginning to unfold.”
She lamented that death had snatched him away so soon, describing the loss as one that “stings deeply.”
“To his young wife, his grieving family, and the people of Umuahia, I offer my sincere sympathy. Abia State shares in your pain. We have lost not just a pilot, but a representative of the courage and excellence that our state is known for,” she said.
The lawmaker also extended her condolences to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, and to the families of the other 24 victims whose loved ones will never come home.
“This tragedy has touched families across the country, and we stand with them all,” she added.
Onyejeocha concluded with a prayer for the bereaved, asking God, “who alone understands the mystery of life and death,” to wrap His arms around every mourner and grant the departed souls peaceful rest.
The crash, which claimed the lives of Squadron Leader Man-Ugwueje and 24 others, has drawn an outpouring of grief from across the country, with tributes pouring in for the fallen officers and crew.
