The Okpella Traditional Council has dismissed a rival claim to the Okuokpellagbe throne, insisting that Engineer Mike Sado remains the recognised traditional ruler of the kingdom.
In a press release issued by the Council, spokesman High Chief Hanson Aimofumeh said one Lukman Akemokue had continued to parade himself as Okuokpellagbe despite appeals on the traditional stool still pending.
The Council warned the public against what it described as misleading narratives being circulated about the stool, saying the community was focused on unity, development and stability.
“The public should ignore the misleading narratives being circulated by Lukman Akemokue. Mike Sado remains the recognised Okuokpellagbe of Okpella and will continue to work with government, stakeholders and the people to preserve the peace, unity and dignity of the kingdom,” Aimofumeh said.
He described the rival claims as “recurring campaigns of falsehood, self-promotion and unfounded claims” that the community could no longer tolerate.
Aimofumeh noted that the traditional institution under Sado had sustained peace, security and development across Okpella, and urged all stakeholders to back initiatives that foster harmony rather than deepen divisions.
“The traditional institution under Mike Sado has continued to promote peace, security and development in Okpella. We ask all stakeholders to support initiatives capable of fostering harmony instead of deepening divisions,” he added.
The Council maintained that it would continue to accord Sado full recognition and called on all quarters to place the peace and progress of Okpella above personal ambitions.
