The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Bauchi State Branch, has urged Governor Bala Mohammed to sustain his administration’s investment in infrastructure and extend similar commitment to the development of education in the state.
The Chairman of the society in Bauchi State, Engr. Shehu Wakili, made the call while commending the governor for ongoing road construction, rehabilitation and other infrastructure projects across the state.
Wakili, who spoke as the governor marked his 68th birthday, said the administration’s investment in roads, public buildings and other critical infrastructure had contributed to improving the state’s physical landscape and supporting socio-economic activities.
He noted that sustained investment in infrastructure was essential to economic growth, adding that quality roads and public facilities would improve connectivity, facilitate the movement of people and goods, boost commercial activities and enhance residents’ living conditions.
The NSE chairman, however, urged the state government to extend the same level of attention to the education sector, stressing the need for balanced development across critical sectors.
He also emphasised the importance of engaging qualified engineers and other relevant professionals in the planning, design, supervision and execution of government projects to ensure quality, safety, durability and value for money.
According to him, collaboration between the government and professional bodies would help promote engineering best practices and ensure that public infrastructure projects meet the required standards.
The society further called on the state government to prioritise the regular maintenance of completed projects, noting that proper maintenance would protect public investments, extend the lifespan of infrastructure and reduce the cost of future repairs.
Wakili reaffirmed the NSE’s readiness to collaborate with the Bauchi State Government and other stakeholders in promoting sustainable infrastructure development and engineering excellence.
The commendation comes as the Bala Mohammed administration continues to emphasise infrastructure development as a key component of its development agenda.
