The Nigeria Police Force has extended the enforcement deadline for tinted glass permits to August 12, 2025, following widespread public concerns about the digital application process.
Inspector General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun approved the extension to allow for further improvements to the system, ensuring it remains “user-friendly, secure, and accessible to all.”
In a statement released on Friday, Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the extension would give the NPF time to implement “additional enhancements and refinements” to both physical and online application methods. “The Force wishes to affirm that it has not ignored the voices of Nigerians,” the statement read. “These voices have been instrumental in guiding ongoing reviews of the process.”
The NPF emphasized that the only authorized platform for permit applications is the official portal, www.possap.gov.ng, and warned against unauthorized charges. “Citizens are encouraged to report all unauthorized or hidden charges as well as extortion in the course of application or biometric capturing,” the statement added, directing complaints to the police hotline at 09169967000.
The extension comes as the police work to simplify verification procedures and reduce delays in the permit approval process. The NPF said it remains committed to “public safety, digital innovation, and continuous improvement in service delivery” while thanking Nigerians for their “cooperation and patience” during the ongoing reforms.
Motorists who have yet to regularize their tinted glass permits now have until August 12 to complete the process before enforcement begins. The NPF has assured the public that the additional time will be used to address concerns and improve the efficiency of the system.
