Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is likely to enjoy massive support from northern voters during the 2027 presidential election, insisting that many Nigerians still believe in the direction of the current administration.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Monday, the governor said the president inherited serious economic challenges but has managed to bring stability and reforms since assuming office in 2023.
According to Sani, critics of the Tinubu administration have continued to attack government policies without presenting practical alternatives capable of improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
He argued that people living in villages and local communities are more interested in visible leadership and workable solutions than political propaganda.
The governor noted that many of those now positioning themselves as opposition figures were previously part of the same political establishment and are already well known to the public.
He maintained that Nigerians are carefully assessing the situation and have not seen any convincing evidence that the opposition can perform better than the present administration under the current economic realities.
Governor Sani further stated that while there may be dissatisfaction in some quarters, many citizens still believe the government is taking difficult but necessary steps to reposition the country.
Commenting on concerns over internal disagreements within the ruling All Progressives Congress ahead of 2027, the Kaduna governor dismissed fears of a crisis within the party.
He explained that consensus arrangements among aspirants are not unusual in politics, provided all interested candidates willingly agree to the process in accordance with the Electoral Act.
Using Kaduna State as an example, Sani said aspirants in the state were encouraged to embrace consensus where possible, but stressed that no one should be forced into accepting such arrangements against their will.
The governor added that although political leaders may naturally support preferred candidates, the final decision always rests with party members during the democratic process.
On speculations surrounding divisions within the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Sani dismissed reports of a major crack in the group.
The governor, who serves as Vice Chairman of the forum under the leadership of Hope Uzodimma, described recent disagreements among members as part of democratic engagement rather than evidence of disunity.
He insisted that the governors remain united despite differing opinions on certain political matters.
