… Points to party’s cross-regional appeal as 2027 game changer

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has mocked the opposition following the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s victory in four of five bye-elections held across three geopolitical zones on Saturday.
In a post on his verified X handle on Sunday, Keyamo said the results pointed to the party’s cross-regional appeal as a game changer ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The bye-elections were held in Kano State (Dawakin Kudu State Constituency), Bauchi State (Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies), Gombe State (Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency) and Delta State (Udu State Constituency).
In Gombe, Kallamu Usman MaiJama’a won the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency with 41,121 votes, while the Labour Party scored 3,553 and the APM 872. In Kano, Husseini Datti won the Dawakin Kudu State Constituency with 22,890 votes, with the PRP polling 270 and the PDP 108.
In Delta, Okolosi Ator won the Udu State Constituency with 8,724 votes, defeating the PDP candidate who scored 214. In Bauchi’s Disina constituency, Yakubu Ali won with 5,846 votes, beating the APM’s 5,225 and the PRP’s 3,701.
The APC lost the Sakwa State Constituency in Bauchi to the APM, whose candidate, Adamu Yakubu, scored 8,515 votes. The APC polled 3,771, the PDP 2,076 and the PRP 727.
Keyamo described the spread of the votes across the three regions as “very significant” going into the general elections, citing the constitutional requirement that a presidential candidate secure 25 percent of votes in two-thirds of the states.
“The makers of our Constitution that insisted that, for someone to be President of Nigeria, you have to secure 25 percent of the votes in two-third of the States in the country were no fools, taking into account the heterogeneous nature of Nigeria,” he wrote.
He, however, declined to give a full analysis immediately, saying he would keep his gunpowder dry until January 19 or 20, 2027, when he predicted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would be declared winner of the presidential election.

He signed off with the words: “No be cho cho cho!!”
