The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reported a major success against terrorist groups in Zamfara state, announcing that precision airstrikes have destroyed a key stronghold in the Tsafe local government area.
The operation, which took place on 14 November, targeted the Sauri bandit camp, a hideout situated on high ground that was being used as a defensive position and logistics hub.

The strike was carried out by the Air Component of the Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA. According to an official statement, the mission was launched only after “comprehensive intelligence and surveillance operations confirmed significant terrorist activity and rustled livestock concealed on a high-ground hideout.” Once the target was confirmed, the force executed a decisive attack. “Acting on this intelligence, the Air Component executed multiple coordinated strike passes on the identified targets, achieving direct hits that dislodged surviving terrorists attempting to flee into surrounding vegetation, where they were subsequently tracked and effectively engaged,” the statement detailed. The operation concluded with the “neutralisation of numerous terrorists and the destruction of critical structures and logistics points,” an outcome which the NAF says will “significantly degrad[e] the criminalsโ operational capability in the area.”
The statement linked this tactical victory to the broader commitment of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke. It reiterated his consistent pledge that the NAF will โfind them, hunt them down, and protect our people.โ The success of the mission in Tsafe is framed as a direct reflection of this aggressive posture. The release further emphasised that the operation “underscores the unwavering resolve of the Joint Task Force and the NAF under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to deny terrorists safe havens, strengthen security in Zamfara State, and support wider national efforts to restore lasting peace and stability across the North West.”
The information was officially confirmed in a press release signed by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, and dated 15 November.
