The administration of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has extended its gratitude to the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) after the agency distributed N1.47 billion in financial aid to more than 6,000 of its students.
In an official correspondence signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mrs. Olayinka O. Balogun, and sent to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND, the institution confirmed it received the sum on July 24, 2025.
Per the letter, the initiative supported a total of 6,076 students, with the precise amount disbursed being N1,475,305,300.00.
โWe commend your efforts aimed at providing financial assistance to indigent students, in alignment with the Federal Governmentโs goal of increasing access to higher education,โ Mrs. Balogun wrote.
The university expressed that the action had offered โsignificant reliefโ to its student body, characterizing it as a reflection of NELFUND’s dedication to bolstering higher learning in Nigeria.
โWe appreciate the efficient processing and disbursement of the funds, which has facilitated the payment of fees for the beneficiaries,โ the registrar further stated.
While sharing the appreciation of the Vice Chancellor, Professor R.O. Kalilu, LAUTECH affirmed that the assistance would be instrumental in advancing academic capabilities and alleviating the economic strain on students.
It is reported that NELFUND, an entity recently created by the Federal Government, is charged with offering interest-free loans and economic support to students in the nation’s tertiary institutions, as a component of a strategy to encourage broadened entry into higher education.
