The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has resolved to partner with Miss World Nigeria 2026, Miss Tamunosoye Karibi George, on projects to support vulnerable groups across the Niger Delta region.
NDDC by its assessment said the planned partnership is part of its broader strategy to advance sustainable development with governments, non-governmental organisations and development-oriented stakeholders.
During a courtesy visit by the beauty queen to the NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt on Friday, the Managing Director of the Commission, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, thanked Miss Karibi for the visit and commended her commitment to humanitarian advocacy.
Ogbuku said the NDDC believes in strategic partnerships that can impact positively on communities where vulnerable groups require support, visibility and opportunity.
Further, he explained that the Commission would explore areas for collaboration with the beauty queen’s non-governmental organisation to aid projects involving the less privileged in Niger Delta communities.
Also, Ogbuku assured Miss Karibi of the Commission’s readiness to support her vision of reaching vulnerable members of society and creating platforms that give them a stronger chance to thrive.
He described Miss World Nigeria 2026 as a role model whose achievements would inspire younger generations across the region and beyond.
The NDDC boss recalled that the Niger Delta had previously produced a global beauty icon, Agbani Darego, who made history as the first Black African woman to win the Miss World crown.
