The Nigeria Democratic Congress has announced the end of the sale of expression of interest forms for aspirants intending to run for president in 2027.
The party, however, extended the deadline for the collection of forms for state and federal assembly seats and governorship positions from May 17 to 24.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the partyโs national secretary, Ikenna Enekweizu, in Abuja on Monday.
According to the statement, screening of aspirants who have purchased and completed the Expression of Interest Forms will begin on Tuesday and end on May 26.
The party added that the collection and return of nomination forms for all screened and cleared aspirants would begin on Wednesday and close on May 26.
The NDC stressed that no further extensions would be granted beyond the stipulated deadline and urged aspirants to strictly comply with the guidelines and timelines.
It directed all aspirants to appear for screening and pre-qualification interviews at designated venues across the country, with relevant documents, including educational certificates, birth certificate or age declaration, passport photographs, voterโs identification card, NDC membership card, and curriculum vitae.
The party also stated that all submitted documents must be provided in six copies.
The statement explained that screening would be based on the wishes of the electorate, local peculiarities, the capacity and competence of aspirants, and character.
It further noted that the screening committee would take into consideration the partyโs affirmative action policy for women, youths and persons living with disabilities.
The NDC encouraged aspirants to embrace consensus-building, noting that only cleared aspirants would be eligible to purchase nomination forms.
