The Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB) has released the list of 1,000 successful candidates recruited to teach in rural primary schools.
Kassom Mohammed-Kassim, executive chairman of the board, announced this in a statement on Thursday in Lafia.
Mr Mohammed-Kassim said the recruitment exercise, conducted on May 1 and 2, 2026, was designed to address teacher shortages in rural communities.
He said the board discovered an insufficient number of teachers in rural primary schools and consequently prioritised them during the recruitment exercise.
The chairman congratulated the successful candidates, stressing that their recruitment was conducted on merit, without influence, sentiment or payment.
He said, “The recruitment was purely based on merit without influence or sentiment and payment of any kind.”
Mr Mohammed-Kassim cautioned social media users against making unverified or unguarded comments concerning the recruitment exercise.
He urged members of the public to cross-check facts before making claims or publishing information on social media platforms.
The chairman disclosed that successful candidates would begin receiving text messages indicating when their appointment letters would be ready for collection.
Mr Mohammed-Kassim also revealed plans by the board to recruit an additional 500 teachers by December or January.
He said the further recruitment would complement efforts to address teacher shortages and strengthen basic education across the state.
