Abuja, Nigeria – The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has announced an immediate ban and recall of Indomie brand “Vegetable Flavour” noodles due to the presence of undeclared allergens. The affected products contain milk and eggs, ingredients not listed on the label, posing a significant health risk to consumers with allergies or intolerances.
The alert follows an official product recall notice issued by the French food safety authority, Rappel Conso. In a public statement released on Friday, NAFDAC confirmed the recall applies to all batches of the product with a best-before date of June 2, 2026.
While the agency noted that the direct risk of these specific batches entering Nigeria is low—due to an existing federal ban on noodle imports—it has initiated heightened surveillance nationwide. NAFDAC warns that the product could still enter the country through illicit channels, online purchases, or personal importation via international travel.
“We have directed all our zonal directors and state coordinators to carry out surveillance and mop up this product if found anywhere in the country,” the agency stated. Distributors, retailers, and consumers are strongly urged to check their stock and supply chains.
