The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suffered another setback following the resignation of Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, who represents the Nasarawa South Senatorial District.
The Senator’s departure comes just five months after he joined the party, citing internal discord and ongoing legal entanglements as primary reasons for his decision.
In a formal letter addressed to the Ward Chairman of the ADC in Galadimawa Ward, Doma Local Government Area, Senator Onawo confirmed that his resignation took effect on June 15, 2026.
The letter, which was made public on Sunday, indicates that the decision followed “careful reflection and wide-ranging consultations with constituents, political associates, and other critical stakeholders.”
Senator Onawo expressed that the “prevailing circumstances within the current party structure and the endless legal battles it is currently embroiled in” no longer provide the necessary environment for him to effectively represent his constituents or fulfill his developmental mandate.
His departure highlights internal instability within the ADC, as the party struggles to maintain cohesion and focus ahead of subsequent political cycles.
The Senator expressed gratitude for the cooperation he received during his brief tenure with the party, wishing the ADC well in its future endeavors.
