..Hails SSA for developmental Unionism
The Senior Staff Association Union held a meeting with the Director-General of Minils on Monday, December 1st, 2025, to discuss the employment of Mrs. Sunday Oni, wife of the late Mr. Sunday Oni, a former staff member.
The Union had requested that Mrs. Oni be employed in her late husband’s place, and the Director-General graciously granted the request.
The Union expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Director-General and Management for this generous gesture. The Chairman of the Union, Mr. Idris Dele Abdulmajeed, acknowledged the Director-General actions as a remarkable achievement, considering the challenges faced, and welcomed him as one of their own.
Mrs. Oni also took the opportunity to express her sincere appreciation for the employment offer, thanking the Director-General, the Union for their support during this difficult time.
In response, the Director-General encouraged the Union to keep up the good work, emphasizing that it was the Union’s role to promote employment opportunities, as it would ultimately strengthen their membership. He urged them to continue their efforts in fostering a positive and supportive work environment.
The meeting also featured constructive discussions on staff welfare, with the Director-General agreeing to implement improvements, including a percentage increase in benefits compared to the previous year.
Repatriation Issue Resolved
A significant breakthrough was announced regarding the Repatriation issue, which has been fully settled by the Institute. The Director-General and Management are commended for their efforts in resolving this long-standing issue, bringing relief to affected staff members.
Replacement Exercise and Support for Widows
The Director-General highlighted the recent replacement exercise, noting that it had benefited the children of widows within the institute. This initiative demonstrates the Institute’s commitment to supporting staff families in need. The Union welcomes this move and encourages the Director-General and Management to continue providing opportunities for staff development and welfare.
Pre-Retirement Programs
The issue of Pre-retirement programs, which has also been cleared, was discussed, showcasing the Director-General and Management’s commitment to staff welfare. The Union looks forward to the implementation of these programs, which will provide valuable support to staff members approaching retirement.
