Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde lost three officials in a single day on Monday, November 2, 2026, after the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Barr. Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo; his Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Simeon Oyeleke; and OYSIEC member Sunday Olugbenga Falana all tendered their resignations.
The resignations, which took immediate effect, were contained in separate letters submitted to the governor and obtained by our correspondent.
Ojo, in his letter, referenced his appointment of June 22, 2026, and thanked Makinde for the opportunity to serve, but gave no reason for his exit.
Oyeleke, however, cited an “unconducive working environment,” stating he could no longer effectively serve the interests of the people in his current role. He thanked the governor for the support he received during his tenure. Oyeleke is a former two-term member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and former local government chairman.
Falana, a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), submitted his resignation through the Chief of Staff, also without stating a reason. He appreciated the governor for the chance to serve on the commission.
The mass exit is the latest in a series of departures from the Makinde administration in recent weeks, which observers link to political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
As of press time, the Oyo State Government had yet to issue an official statement on the resignations.
