Kaduna State government has reported collecting ₦91.23 billion in total revenue during the first half of 2025, according to its Commissioner for Planning and Budget Mukhtar Ahmed.
The figures were revealed during a stakeholders’ engagement meeting on Tuesday to review the state’s 2025 budget implementation for the first two quarters.
“As at the end of the second quarter of 2025, Kaduna state recorded an actual total revenue of ₦91,232,312,135.21, while year-to-date total expenditure stood at ₦89,202,307,325.45,” Ahmed said.
The commissioner explained these figures contributed to a cumulative half-year budget performance of ₦340.30 billion for revenue and ₦208.76 billion for expenditure, representing 43.1% and 26.4% performance against the original 2025 budget respectively.
Ahmed also presented highlights of the draft 2026-2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), noting the period would require “reinforced investments in climate-resilient infrastructure, disaster risk management, and ecosystem restoration, alongside accelerated mitigation actions.”
The commissioner emphasized the state’s commitment to citizen involvement in budgetary processes, in line with its Open Government Partnership (OGP) commitments and Governor Uba Sani’s campaign promises.
“This stakeholders engagement is in fulfilment of both the governor’s campaign promise and in compliance with open government partnership,” Ahmed said. “This edition is unique because it’s the first time children were invited – they also have a voice and deserve to know how their money is being spent.”
The meeting was attended by civil society organisations, women’s groups, persons with disabilities, academics, professional bodies, students and media representatives. Ahmed noted Kaduna was among the first subnational governments to sign the OGP, which promotes public participation in governance.
The commissioner added that regular town hall meetings formed part of the governor’s commitment to incorporating public input during budget preparation, calling it “one of the governor’s components of the campaign manifesto.”
