The Benue State House of Assembly has suspended four of its members for six months over an alleged attempt to impeach the Speaker, Aondona Dajoh.
The suspended lawmakers are Alfred Berger (Makurdi North), Terna Shimawua (Kian constituency), Cyril Ekong (Obi constituency), and James Umoru (Apa constituency).
The suspension followed a motion of urgent importance moved by the Majority Leader, Saater Tiseer, who accused the members of attempting to disrupt the assembly by creating a needless crisis.
After the motion was adopted, the Speaker directed the Sergeant at Arms to immediately escort the suspended members out of the chambers.
