The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the public display of the Preliminary Register of Voters (PRV) for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), inviting residents to make claims and objections to the list.
This exercise follows the suspension of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in the FCT on Sunday, 12th October, 2025.
In a public notice, the Commission stated that the display is being conducted across all sixty-two (62) Registration Areas (Wards) of the FCT. The activity, which is in compliance with Section 19(1) of the 2022 Electoral Act, will run daily from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm from Friday, 17th October, to Thursday, 23rd October, 2025.
The displayed register contains the details of all new voters who registered during the recently concluded CVR exercise.
INEC FCT enjoined all new registrants to visit the registration centres where they enrolled to check the correctness of their personal information, such as name and photograph, and to make claims for corrections where necessary.
Furthermore, the Commission encouraged all other voters in the FCT to participate in the process by checking the displayed PRV to identify and raise objections against any person they believe is not qualified to vote, such as those who are underage, non-citizens, or otherwise ineligible.
A key part of the process will be on the final day, Thursday, 23rd October, 2025, which has been designated for the hearing of the claims and objections raised by members of the public.
This display and claims/objections window is a critical quality-control step by INEC to ensure the integrity and credibility of the voter register ahead of future elections in the nation’s capital.
