The Ibom Deep Seaport project has recorded a financial viability after Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno held a review feasibility and high-level technical session with stakeholders including implementation pathways with project partners in Paris, capital of France.
The organized session, held on Friday with officials of Africa Global Logistics (AGL) Group, targeted the recently submitted Technical Feasibility Report prepared by Worley Parsons, a key document expected to guide investment decisions and execution framework for the multi-billion-dollar maritime infrastructure project.
Eno through the session pressed to fast-track progress on the project, calling for unambiguous timelines, measurable milestones and structured steps, which would move the initiative from the planning stage to actual construction and operation.
In a statement by the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah, the engagement made available an opportunity for government officials and potential partners to evaluate critical issues pertinent to investment structures, project delivery mechanisms and long-term sustainability.
Also, the governor reaffirmed the commitment of the state to the successful deliver the deep seaport, explaining it as a strategic project with a capacity to transform the state’s economic fortunes and make its role stronger in regional trade.
Meanwhile, the stakeholders had vowed their unflinching commitment to advance the project, expected to serve as a key maritime, logistics and commercial gateway within the Gulf of Guinea when accomplished.
Spear News Nigeria recalls that the Ibom Deep Seaport is one of Nigeria’s most anticipated infrastructure projects, initiated as a deep-water port to argument existing maritime facilities in the country.
Also, its plan would be
to handle large cargo vessels and support industrial, export and logistics operations in the South-South region.
Economic experts have said the project could attract a large proportion of foreign and domestic investments, create jobs and development of related infrastructure, including industrial parks, transport networks and export processing facilities across Akwa Ibom State.
Spear News Nigeria gathered that Governor Eno was accompanied to Paris for the meeting by the Chairman of the Technical Committee on the Ibom Deep Seaport Project and former Director-General of NIMASA, Mrs Mfon Usoro; Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; Commissioner for Science and Digital Economy, Dr Frank Ekpeyong; Managing Director of Hensek Integrated, Engr. Uwem Okoko among others.
