Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua (Katsina Central) has firmly dismissed rumours of his planned defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring his full loyalty to the ruling party.
In a statement issued Sunday night, he described the reports as “
baseless speculation and media mischief, insisting that he remains a dedicated member of the APC.
“I wish to categorically reaffirm my unwavering commitment and support for the All Progressives Congress (APC). I urge the press to disregard any speculative headlines suggesting my defection from the party,” he stated.
Yar’adua emphasised that sharing a surname with other political figures does not imply alignment with their decisions. “It’s essential to clarify that not all individuals sharing the Yar’Adua surname imply a political association with me,” he added.
The senator reiterated his support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, praising its efforts in increasing state and local government allocations, improving infrastructure, and enhancing security sector recruitment.
“As political leaders, I believe we must join hands with Mr. President to make this administration succeed and ensure the common man feels the impact of the reforms of the APC-led Federal Government,” he said.
Concluding his statement, Yar’adua left no room for doubt: “I remain committed to the APC and will work with leaders across the board to ensure the unity, progress, and prosperity of all Nigerians.”
The denial comes amid heightened political realignment talks, with some lawmakers rumored to be considering defections ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
