Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have dismantled a terrorist drone supply chain in coordinated operations across Adamawa and Borno States.
The major counter-terrorism offensive led to the arrest of key collaborators and the neutralisation of a notorious commander.
Military authorities confirmed on Thursday that the successes were recorded through a combination of meticulous intelligence gathering and swift tactical maneuvers, involving close collaboration with local vigilantes and hunters.
The Drone Supplier Nabbed
In the first major breakthrough, troops from Sector 4, operating under the 28 Task Force Brigade, apprehended a 28-year-old terrorist logistics supplier, Ismail Muhammed, in the Visik General area of Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa State.
Muhammed was found in possession of incriminating materials, including an AK-47 magazine, rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and various military accoutrements, alongside assorted foodstuffs intended for insurgent camps.
However, the most critical arrest came from a subsequent intelligence-led operation in Madagali Local Government Area. Acting on credible information, troops arrested 64-year-old Dauda Usman Gubula, a high-value terrorist collaborator. Gubula, apprehended at the Madagali Motor Park, has been identified as a specialist drone supplier responsible for providing unmanned aerial vehicles to the terrorists.
Intelligence sources revealed that these drones were not merely for surveillance. Gubula supplied the equipment specifically to enable insurgents to locally arm the drones for offensive missions against troop positions. Recovered from his possession were two aerial drones, various drone accessories, and 20 solar power banks used to sustain the devices in the field. Gubula is currently in custody undergoing intense interrogation to unravel the full extent of his network.
Commander Neutralized in Ambush
In the same theatre of operations, troops demonstrated their offensive prowess by neutralizing a terrorist commander, Abdullahi Mafa. The insurgent leader was killed during a fierce ambush operation conducted around the Visik River line. Mafa and his contingent were caught in a kill zone expertly set by ground troops, resulting in his elimination. Recovered from the scene included one AK-47 rifle and a loaded magazine.
Repelling Attacks in Borno
Further east, in Sector 2, troops of Operation HADIN KAI, working in sync with local vigilantes and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), successfully repelled insurgent activity in Ngamdu, Borno State. During the encounter, troops neutralized a terrorist informant who was attempting to breach defensive positions to gather intelligence for impending attacks. Various logistic items were also recovered from that operation.
Military sources stated that these missions are part of a sustained operational tempo aimed at completely disrupting Boko Haram supply lines and restoring security to communities across the North-East region.
High Command Commends Troops
The Military High Command has commended the troops for their sacrifices, gallantry, and dedication in the fight against terrorism. In a statement, the leadership urged the soldiers to maintain the momentum, ensuring that insurgents have no breathing space to regroup or rearm.
“The recent successes demonstrate that through synergy with local communities and relentless pursuit, we can effectively dismantle the terror networks threatening the North East,” the statement concluded.
