A member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Abdullahi Sa’ad, has raised serious concerns over the disappearance of items he personally donated to Umaisha General Hospital in Toto Local Government Area just two weeks ago.
The lawmaker, who represents the Umaisha/Ugya constituency, returned to the hospital on Saturday for a follow-up inspection of the donated items, only to discover they were nowhere to be found.
Hon. Sa’ad had donated 50 ceiling fans, 40 standing fans, and 50 orthopedic mattresses, all purchased with his personal funds, to improve conditions at the hospital and assist patients who rely on the facility for healthcare.
In a video clip shared on social media, the visibly angry lawmaker was seen demanding answers from hospital officials regarding the whereabouts of the donated items.
“I bought over 50 ceiling fans, over 40 standing fans, 50 orthopaedic mattresses,” he said during the confrontation.
The lawmaker specifically questioned a doctor at the hospital, recalling an earlier conversation in which he was allegedly told the items were still in storage.
“Doctor, you remember the last time I spoke with you about the orthopaedic mattresses, you remember what you told me,” Hon. Sa’ad said, before challenging the official to show him the mattresses he had purchased.
“How can you tell me this is the mattress I bought? Can you show the mattresses I bought? I bought them for my people,” he added.
A hospital staff member seen in the video attempted to explain the whereabouts of some of the mattresses.
According to the staff member, some mattresses were temporarily given to discharged patients to use at home following treatment and were expected to be returned after two months.
“We normally give them the mattress to go home and return in two months,” the staff member was heard saying. When asked how many mattresses had been taken home, the staff member reportedly said about seven.
The explanation, however, did little to satisfy the lawmaker, who continued demanding answers about the fans and other missing items.
Hon. Sa’ad stressed that the donations were funded personally and intended to improve healthcare conditions for residents of his constituency.
“It is my money I used to buy it for my people. Why would they be suffering? Look at the condition of the people here,” he said.
The lawmaker also expressed frustration over what he described as the failure to account for his contributions to the hospital.
He questioned whether the handling of the donated items was fair to him and the people he represented, saying: “Are you being fair to me? I will go and suffer. Go and look at my house in Abuja and the one in this community. I refuse to enjoy. I refuse to be happy with myself, just to make my people happy.”
Despite his anger, the lawmaker offered to purchase additional mattresses if hospital officials genuinely required them, insisting that he had the capacity to do so.
Hon. Sa’ad has been known for humanitarian services in his constituency. Between December 2025 and August 2026, he reportedly spent Thirty Two Million Naira assisting people facing financial challenges.
He recently flagged off a free medical outreach program expected to cover 2,500 beneficiaries across six wards of his constituency. The lawmaker has also distributed food items, JAMB forms, and cash grants to constituents over the past year.
