The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially constituted its National Campaign Council for the upcoming 2025 Anambra State Governorship Election, with Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, appointed as its Chairman.
This information was released in a statement from the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on Sunday.
The inauguration of the high-powered council is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 11th September, 2025, at the National Working Committee (NWC) Hall, APC National Secretariat, 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse 2, Abuja. The event is set to commence at 1:00 PM.
The council features a broad assembly of the party’s heavyweights, including no fewer than twenty-five serving state governors and several former governors. Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State and Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State are named as Co-Chairmen, underscoring the party’s strategic focus on the South-East region.
A notable inclusion in the list is former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, who has been assigned to the Finance Committee of the council. The Finance Committee itself is to be chaired by Governor Hope Uzodimma, with Governors Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State and Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State serving as Co-Chairmen.
The APC’s candidate, Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, and his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, are also integral members of the national council. The extensive list further includes prominent figures such as Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, Senator Orji Uzo Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, and Chief Emma Eneukwu, the party’s Deputy National Chairman (South).
The formation of this expansive campaign council is seen as a move by the ruling party to consolidate its influence and deploy a formidable force to secure victory in the Anambra gubernatorial race.
All members of the National Working Committee (NWC) are also listed as part of the council, according to the statement signed by the National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru.
