A rainstorm has killed a toddler (3-years old) girl, identified as Afnan, after it collapsed a building in Mokwa community, the headquarters of Mokwa council area of Niger state.
Reliable Sources said it was midnight tragedy on Monday when the downpour forced down the room where the nonage was sleeping with her mother and five siblings.
One of the locals, Galadima Audu said, ” All seven occupants of the room were trapped under the rubble and later rushed to the hospital”.
Audu further explained that the mother sustained deep injuries, including broken legs but the other children were also injured and undergoing medical treatment.
“The incident happened around 12am. We got to the hospital around 1am.
“There were seven people in the room. We had to remove broken blocks from their bodies”.
Spear News , however, gathered that the deceased was taken to hospital alive but died soon after arrival while
their father was away in Kiama at the time of the incident where stays as manual worker.
Other affected areas were Tifi-Maza, Shaba-Lile, Eti-Sheshi, Tako-Wangwa, Kpege, and Efu-Goro.
The Chairman of Mokwa Local Government Area,
Hon. Jibrin Abdullahi Muregi, council chairman of the area confirmed the incident, promising a full scale assessment of the damage was ongoing.
