The management of Enugu Air has confirmed that all passengers and crew members are safe following a runway excursion involving one of its aircraft at Benin Airport earlier today.
The incident occurred during the landing phase of the flight, when the aircraft veered off the runway surface.
In an official public notice obtained by this newspaper, the airline assured stakeholders that there were no injuries or fatalities resulting from the occurrence.
“All passengers and crew have safely disembarked.The aircraft has been secured and the relevant aviation authorities have been notified in line with established procedures”, the airline stated.
It said emergency response teams were promptly deployed to the scene, and passengers were evacuated without complication.
Consequently, the airline has since launched a full internal assessment to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, working in coordination with aviation regulatory bodies.
As a result of the occurrence, Enugu Air has warned of temporary adjustments to some flight schedules. Affected passengers will be contacted directly and offered necessary assistance, including rebooking or refunds where applicable.
“An assessment of the aircraft and the circumstances surrounding the occurrence is currently underway,” the airline added. “The safety of our passengers, crew, and operations remains our highest priority.”
Enugu Air has urged the public to rely only on its official communication channels for further updates and has expressed appreciation for passengers’ understanding during this time.
