Several political associates and former allies of immediate past Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai, have returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared their support for the incumbent governor, Senator Uba Sani.
The development, which signals a major shift in Kaduna’s political landscape, was confirmed to Spear News Nigeria by a former commissioner in the state, Jafaru Ibrahim Sani.
Among those reportedly aligning with the Uba Sani-led political camp are Bashir Saidu, a former Chief of Staff to El-Rufai, and Abdu Kwari, a former commissioner in the state and former senator.
Others include Nasir Abdullahi Maikano, a former chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kaduna State and three-term member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, who represented Ungwan Sanusi Constituency.
Also listed is Moukhtar Isa Hazo, a former Deputy Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, alongside other grassroots politicians across the state.
Confirming the development, Jafaru Ibrahim Sani said the politicians had decided to move together as a bloc.
“It’s true, we are going together with them,” he said.
The politicians had, at various times, been associated with El-Rufai’s political camp, making their reported decision to align with the incumbent governor notable in the context of the emerging 2027 political landscape.
The latest realignment is expected to fuel further political discussions in Kaduna as political actors position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
It also signals possible shifts in the balance of political influence among competing camps within and outside the ruling APC in the state.
