Operatives of the Edo state Police Command have arrested 7 suspected cultists around peanut junction of Sapele Road, while they were allegedly brutalizing an Okada Rider.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Moses Yamu, operatives from the Love World Division responded to the distress call that led to the arrest.
Those arrested includes, Erick Charles 25 years, Gift Nerese 24 years, Odion Osaro 19 years, Festus Osaghai 26 Years, Owas Ighodaro 19 years, Samuel Sabi 22 years, Destiny Bernard 20 years while two yet to be identified escaped.
The statement noted that two of the suspects confessed to be members of the Maphite Confraternity.
Items recovered from the suspects includes, One pestle, one matchete, one live cartridge, and one tricycle with reg no AUC 184 VH.
The statement assured that Investigation is ongoing and suspects will soon be charged to court.
The statement also reaffirmed that the ongoing Command’s house-to-house arrests of identified cultists will be sustained till cultism is brought to the barest minimum in the state.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc assures the general public that the Command will continue to discharge its duty with utmost professionalism.
