Edo State House of Assembly has given an approval for a one hundred billion naira loan request by Governor Monday Okpebholo to fund ongoing infrastructural projects in the state.
The governor had in a letter to the house through the speaker requested the parliament to approve the loan for urban renewal and infrastructural upgrade in the state.
The majority leader, Mr Jonathan Ibhamawu, while speaking on the governor’s request, said the loan was essential considering the fact that funds accruing to the state were less than what was captured in the budget.
The deputy leader, Mr Addeh Isibor, member representing Akoko-Edo two, Mr Donald Okogbe, member representing Esan North East two, Mrs Maria Edeko and others who spoke, aligned with the submission of the majority leader to the effect that the loan be approved to fund infrastructural projects begging for attention in their constituencies.
The house thereafter approved the loan request with a directive from the speaker that clean copies of the resolution be forwarded to the governor for signing.
The house also passed a bill for a law to establish Saint Matthew Royal School of Nursing Sciences, Udenu, Edo State.
