The All People’s Congress (APC) on Saturday witnessed an extraordinary show of unity, strength, and renewed momentum as party faithful, traditional leaders, and residents of Port Loko District gathered for the official turning of the sod for the expansion of the historic Bai Bureh Hall, the political heartbeat of the APC in the north.
The event, held at the APC Port Loko Office, became a powerful symbol of the party’s past, present, and future. Originally constructed through a community self-help initiative championed by the late former Vice President Sorie Ibrahim Koroma, Bai Bureh Hall has long stood as a testament to APC’s deep roots in Port Loko. Named after the legendary hut tax war hero Bai Beurah Kablai, its significance transcends politics, representing resistance, unity, and the enduring spirit of the Northern Region.
But today’s gathering carried its own moment of history — the commanding presence of Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, one of the most promising presidential aspirants under the APC who had earlier donated 500 hundred millions old Leones for the Bai Beulah expansion project. His arrival electrified the atmosphere. Supporters erupted in loud cheers, drums rolled, and chants of his name echoed across the grounds as members of his movement, alongside ordinary party loyalists, surged forward to welcome him.
Even with several other presidential hopefuls in attendance, it was unmistakable where the energy tilted. Dr. Bangura’s presence became the highlight of the day, his growing influence within the APC visibly affirmed by the warmth, excitement, and open admiration from the crowd. For many in Port Loko, his presence as his looks and character emblematic of the late S.I Koroma whose name he carries symbolized a bridge between the party’s proud legacy and a future they are eager to embrace.
The ceremony was further graced by top-ranking APC officials, including the Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Osman Foday Yansaneh, whose leadership continues to steady the party; the National Publicity Secretary, Sidi Yayah Tunis, whose voice remains central in shaping the APC’s national messaging; and a full complement of prominent party figures who showed collective commitment to strengthening the APC’s political fortress in the north.
Residents of Port Loko, youth groups, women’s organizations, and traditional authorities all turned out in large numbers, transforming the occasion into a community celebration. For them, the expansion of Bai Beurah Hall is not merely a construction project — it is a renewal of heritage, identity, and political pride.
Today’s event reaffirmed Port Loko’s status as a stronghold of the APC and sent a clear signal: the party is mobilizing, reconnecting with its base, and positioning itself to reclaim national leadership. And in that unfolding movement, Dr. Ibrahim Bangura’s rising profile stood front and center, earning him both the spotlight and the admiration of a district that has long shaped the party’s destiny.
