The Delta State Police Command has announced a major breakthrough in its ongoing clampdown on crime, with the arrest of suspected cultists and armed robbers in different operations across the state. The raids, carried out by operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team and the Safe Delta Unit, also led to the recovery of firearms and ammunition.
Confirming the operations, the Commandโs spokesperson, SP Edafe Bright, in a statement issued on Friday, said the coordinated efforts were in line with the directives of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, to intensify the fight against insecurity in the state.

According to the statement, on September 10, 2025, operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) acted on credible intelligence regarding cult activities in Ibusa Town. The team tracked and arrested one Oluwatobi Olugbemi, a 29-year-old native of Ikenne-Remo in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State, but resident in Ogboli quarters, Ibusa.
During a search conducted at his residence, police recovered a Beretta pistol loaded with one round of ammunition. The suspect reportedly confessed to being a member of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as โArrow Barger.โ He is currently in custody, while further investigations continue.
In a related operation, operatives of Safe Delta arrested a suspected armed robber, Raphael Chukwuemeka, aged 23, on September 9, 2025, during a surveillance patrol along DBS Road. The suspect, who was involved in a public brawl, was found with a cut-to-size double-barrel pistol and seven live cartridges. He was taken into custody as investigations proceed.
Similarly, on September 10, 2025, at about 10:30 am, Safe Delta operatives, while conducting a stop-and-search at Head Bridge, Asaba, intercepted three young men on a motorcycle. The suspects were identified as 22-year-old Solomon Offor, 19-year-old Ifesinachi Nwankeze, and 23-year-old Ambrose Ugwuba. A locally made single-barrel cut-to-size gun, several cartridges, and a dagger concealed in a bag were recovered during the search.
All suspects are presently in custody, and the Command assured that investigations are ongoing to unravel their networks and associates.
SP Bright reiterated the commitment of CP Abaniwonda and his team to sustaining proactive strategies in ensuring the safety and security of residents of Delta State.
