The Delta State Police Command has recorded significant operational breakthroughs following a series of coordinated raids across the state, resulting in the arrest of suspected drug dealers, seizure of illicit substances, and the disruption of criminal networks.
In a statement issued on April 18, 2026, the Command disclosed that its operatives also successfully foiled a planned kidnap operation during the course of the raids, underscoring intensified efforts to tackle crime in the state.
One of the key operations was carried out by officers attached to the Oghara Division, who stormed a suspected drug hideout in Ugholo community on April 15 at about 10:23 p.m. The raid led to the arrest of a 33-year-old female suspect, identified as Justina Onokpasa.
According to the police, a substantial quantity of suspected hard drugs was recovered from the scene. Items seized include two large bags of substances believed to be Canadian loud, 300 small cans of the same substance, 30 bottles of CSC codeine, 10 sachets of tramadol, two sachets of โSuper Royalโ (Redboy), 12 sachets of Swinol, 12 pieces of molly drugs, and 400 empty distribution cans.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
In a separate operation, operatives of the State Anti-Cult Unit conducted a raid on identified drug spots in Abraka on April 16 at about 11:45 a.m., leading to the arrest of three additional suspects. Authorities confirmed that large quantities of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit drugs were recovered during the exercise.
All suspects apprehended in the coordinated operations are currently in custody, with the police indicating that further investigations are ongoing to unravel wider networks linked to the crimes.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the officers for their professionalism and dedication. He reaffirmed the Commandโs resolve to sustain its offensive against drug trafficking and related criminal activities, while urging members of the public to continue providing credible information to support law enforcement efforts.
The Command emphasized that the raids form part of a broader strategy to curb the spread of illicit drugs and dismantle criminal syndicates operating within the state.
